The price of tickets is £17 (half price for children under 16) including the meal and the dance disco that rounds off what is always an enjoyable evening. There will be a booking list at the back of church, please add your name(s) if you wish to join us. We need at least 60 names to make the evening go with a swing and new comers are particularly welcome. If there is a whole in the bank account at the beginning of the year Brian is very happy to take a few instalments to spread the payment. Just have a word with him.

COLLEGE CHAPLAINCY At a simple ceremony last Thursday at Southport College the Vicar and Ian Howarth were commissioned for new work as Chaplains to Southport College by the Bishop of Warrington. CHARITIES RETROSPECT Christmas proved to be a good experience at Trinity. The weather was kind (almost seasonal at times!) and over the 48 hour period from 23rd -25th December attendances at our services amounted to just under a thousand. We had many appreciative comments from worshippers so a word of thanks to everyone who contributed to the services in any way or worked to make the church look so beautiful.
The Southport Christmas Shelter was well used over the five days of opening. We served over 270 meals and were able to provide most of our visitors with take away food and toiletry bags. Again, a big thank you to anyone who supported the project with donations or supplies.
AU REVOIR to Kathy and Neil McCrimmon who fly to America this week and will be living in Seattle for the next eighteen months. We hope to see them from time to time during this period but wish them a safe journey and happy landing on the other side of the pond!!
BETTY BAYLEY-BROWN - Many of you will be aware by now that Betty died peacefully on the first day of the New Year in a local nursing home. She was 81 and had been poorly for some time. A service of thanksgiving was held in church last Friday at 2p.m. followed by burial in St. Cuthbert’s church yard, Churchtown.
FROM STUART HENDERSON: Parish/Cathedral Representative - Included with this Sunday’s diary is a leaflet from the Cathedral showing some of the highlights for 2008. Please take the leaflet home and refer to it throughout the year. As it is Capital of Culture year there will be lots of special events taking place. I will keep you informed of these as details become available.
